Frequently Asked Questions

What is the process of therapy like?

Each therapy session with me lasts approximately 60 minutes and is typically scheduled weekly. This consistent schedule is designed to help us build trust and maintain the necessary momentum for positive change. We will begin with two to four initial assessment sessions to get to know each other. Based on your treatment needs, we will co-create a treatment plan and set goals for your therapy. We can adjust our meeting frequency depending on your progress and the level of support you require. As you approach your goals, we will discuss reducing session frequency or preparing to conclude therapy. You are always welcome to pause or resume our work at any time, moving at your own pace. Should you ever need more support than I can provide, I will help connect you with the appropriate specialists.

Do you accept health insurance?

I am currently an out-of-network (OON) provider and do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company toward your deductible or for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because coverage varies, I encourage you to contact your insurance plan administrator directly to confirm your out-of-network mental health benefits and reimbursement requirements. You can also check your benefits with this secure tool.

I offer a limited number of sliding-scale openings for clients experiencing financial hardship. I welcome questions about fees and will work to make payment planning as clear and stress-free as possible.

Will therapy work for me?

Everyone experiences therapy differently, and progress is not always linear. At times, you may feel worse before you begin to feel relief, and you may gain insights you did not expect. While therapy can support meaningful change, each person’s process and outcomes are unique.

Therapy is often most effective when you make an active effort both during and between sessions—by showing up consistently, sitting with discomfort, facing fears at a manageable pace, and practicing new ways of thinking and being. I will do my best to create a safe, supportive space where you can be vulnerable and work through difficult moments.

Please let me know if you are ever concerned that therapy is not helping. We can explore what may need to change and adjust our approach together.
