About Cassie

My Origin Story

I was born in Zhengzhou, a beautiful central Chinese city surrounded by the Yellow River and the relics of ancient Chinese civilization. In high school, I moved with my family to live in Southern California because of the education and career opportunities the US promised. The relationship challenges and life transitions I experienced while growing up sparked my interest in psychology and mental health. Rewarded by the joy of helping people, I became a licensed professional clinical counselor.

My Education and Professional Background

I have been training and working in mental health care since 2019. After completing my master’s program in mental health services and professional counseling at the University of Pennsylvania, I returned to California to practice psychotherapy. I have served diverse communities across San Diego, Los Gatos, San Jose, and San Mateo. I gained broad clinical experience working in community mental health agencies, hospitals, and private practices, supporting clients of all ages.

My Work Style

My clients usually perceive me as calming, patient, validating, open-minded, and fun at the right moment. I adapt my style of communication to each person’s unique background and identity to ensure everyone is heard. My authenticity and nonjudgmental approach have helped me connect with many adolescent and adult clients, including those who may feel hesitant to open up at first.

My Clinical Interests and Areas of Focus

Outside of Work

When I’m not working, I love spending time with the people close to me and with my cats (Chun-li and Magnolia). I’m also passionate about art and fashion. I enjoy going to workout classes, taking walks in nature, painting watercolor, watching horror movies, and traveling to new places.
